Telematics services poised to impact European auto market

NEW YORK-New research shows the European automobile market will see dramatic advances in information, navigation and entertainment systems, with wireless telematics services “poised to significantly alter the landscape of the European navigation market.”

A new study by Frost & Sullivan shows the market for auto “infotainment” will fetch revenues worth $10 billion in 2010, accounting for everything from telematics to in-car DVD players. But the firm pointed out that ever-growing traffic density and motorists’ desire for incident-free driving will drive demand for navigation technologies. Specifically, Frost & Sullivan said third-generation network technology will serve as a main driver for wireless cartographic data.
