Qwest reports slight increase in wireless revenue

DENVER-Qwest Communications International Inc., which recently announced plans to transition its nearly 1 million wireless customers to Sprint PCS’ network, reported a slight increase in wireless revenue from $151 million during the first quarter of this year to $154 million during the second quarter.

The increased revenues were posted despite a drop in total wireless customers from 988,000 during the first three months of this year to 954,000 customers during the second quarter, which resulted in a penetration decrease from 4.43 percent during the first quarter to 4.27 percent in the second quarter and stable average revenue per user results of $43.

Qwest has said it expects to have all of its wireless customers transitioned to Sprint PCS’ network by the end of the first quarter of 2004.
