PISCATAWAY, N.J.-The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers has established a standard, 802.15.14, to allow the 802.15 technology to extend wireless communications to low-power, low-speed and low-cost devices.
“This is an enabling standard,” said Pat Kinney, chair of IEEE 802.15 Task Group 4. “It builds a framework so existing low-end wired devices can participate in wireless networks and also creates paths for many new applications.”
