Alan Dick & Co. has acquired telecommunications infrastructure service company EXi Ltd., making Alan Dick & Co. a single-source supplier for the telecommunications industry. “Acquiring the resources and expertise that have driven EXi rapidly forward since its creation in 1995 will allow us to offer telecom carriers access to the latest wireless resources, without their having to worry about assembling a portfolio of hardware and software from multiple suppliers,” explained Callum Dick, chief executive officer of Alan Dick & Co.
Wireless local area network infrastructure provider Aruba Wireless Networks announced it has received $20 million in its second round of financing, bringing total investments in the company to $29.5 million. As part of its global expansion, Aruba Wireless has secured partnerships with Japan’s Fuji Xerox Corp. Ltd. and Network Value Components and has expanded its operations into Japan, India and Europe.
Denying any wrongdoing, Lucent Technologies Inc. said it has received preliminary court approval to settle pending class-action shareowner litigation against the company. “The Honorable Judge Joel A. Pisano of the U.S. District Court in Newark, N.J., entered an order preliminarily approving the settlements and directing the plaintiffs’ counsel to notify potential class members concerning the proposed settlements and claims administration process,” said the company, adding that a settlement fairness hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 12.
IBM Corp. has chosen to integrate SupportSoft Inc.’s Mobile Device Management Suite with its Device Management Solutions to offer wireless service providers an enhanced customer service solution. With the integrated IBM-SupportSoft solution, wireless service providers can provide automated customer self-service, self-healing functionality and intelligent-assisted service to mobile device users. The solution features a customer service analyst interface and a communication platform to allow carriers to diagnose and solve problems on customers’ mobile devices. The solution also includes a customized self-service portal for customers to solve their own problems online.
