SkyBridge completes Las Vegas network expansion

LAS VEGAS-SkyBridge Wireless Inc. announced the completion of the first phase of expansion of its high-speed wireless broadband network in Las Vegas.

The network, capable of supporting 25,000 potential customers, uses Proxim’s Tsunami licensed 23 GHz products to link access points and provide redundant support to ensure reliability of service.

SkyBridge also said it has deployed 18 Motorola Canopy access points in the Las Vegas market to reach an additional 3,600 potential customers. SkyBridge plans to deploy 24 more Canopy access points to support 4,800 more customers.

SkyBridge also launched a service product line that will include its Wireless Modem service for cost-effective access to the network. The company plans to pursue contracts with local business groups, hotels, casinos and convention facilities and plans to deploy Wi-Fi hot spots throughout the market.
