LUXEMBOURG-T-Mobile Netherlands and Gemplus announced results from their deployment of a short message service-based information-on-demand service for T-Mobile’s Dutch customers. After five months of the service, volumes for SMS ring-tone downloads increased fivefold, the companies said.
T-Mobile Netherlands offered a range of subscriber identity module SMS services to its subscribers using content and an application infrastructure from Realtime and Gemplus’ SIM browsing technology. Services included multi-question quizzes with interactive questions and answers and ring-tone selections.
“T-Mobile sees huge opportunities for SMS services,” said Kees Kalijouw, senior product manager for T-Mobile Netherlands. “We are confident that the increased usability will improve customer acceptance of SIM services and stimulate usage.”
