Fastap technology used in CTIA keynote

LAS VEGAS-Digit Wireless said its Fastap technology was used by the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association at its keynote session at the I.T. show in Las Vegas.

The company said CTIA Chief Executive Officer Tom Wheeler used a Panasonic GD87 demonstration model with the Fastap keypad to take live short message service questions from the audience during his keynote address.

The device shows the ease of use available for all data entry using the Fastap experience; the demonstration was in cooperation with LogicaCMG’s SMS infrastructure.

Wheeler said, “We recognize that better data entry is a ‘last-mile’ issue for the wireless data community. Fastap keypads illustrate major progress towards phone and computer convergence in a phone form factor.”

The Fastap keypad hardware and software provides direct-entry alphanumeric input, allowing mobile-phone users to create text and multimedia messages. Users are able to choose letters, numbers and basic punctuation with the press of a button, instead of “triple-tapping” keys to enter text, as is the case on current phone keypads.
