Motorola sets up center for third-party vendors

SINGAPORE-Motorola Inc. said it has set up a center to purchase parts for third-party makers of its wireless equipment and handheld devices.

The company said the center will take orders of about $1.73 billion every year by 2006, representing 80 percent of Motorola’s components bought by third-party vendors.

Motorola’s third-party partners had ordered parts directly from suppliers.
