BEIJING-The TD-SCDMA Alliance said it will announce five new members by the end of this year, emphasizing the growing acceptance and influence of the protocol.
“We have singled them out from 17 applicants this year to strengthen our alliance,” said Yang Hua, secretary-general of the TD-SCDMA Alliance. “But we are not going to name the five companies until the end of the year.”
The alliance was born last October by five Chinese companies, but new members may be foreign or joint ventures. Siemens AG and Motorola Inc. have shown great interest in the protocol.
