STMicroelectronics buys Synad

GENEVA-STMicroelectronics said it has acquired wireless local area networks chip developer Synad Technologies Ltd., a startup based in the United Kingdom.

The acquired company, which has 50 engineers, will bring to ST its expertise in radio frequency, digital integrated circuit design, and system and software engineering.

“With the addition of Synad’s team, products and technology to its portfolio, ST has strengthened its leadership in broadband access solutions and is ideally positioned to offer WLAN-enabled solutions by leveraging its position as a leader in numerous markets,” said ST.
