ATHENS, Greece-Motorola Inc. said it will work with Science Applications International Corp. and Siemens AG to provide a secure two-way radio communications system for public-safety agencies during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
The contract value to Motorola will be more than $25 million with a 10-year provision for services and support.
The system will be based on the Terrestrial Trunked Radio standard. Deployment of the TETRA system has begun, and the network is expected to be fully operational by April 2004.
During the games, Siemens, Motorola and Greek mobile carrier Ote will work together to operate and maintain the system, which is expected to be used by more than 22,000 officers and personnel from Greek public-safety organizations.
