Vyyo announces China deployments

PALO ALTO, Calif.-Wireless broadband solution provider Vyyo Inc. said China Railway Communication Co. Ltd. has deployed its products in Hohhot and Xining. China Railcom operates China’s second-largest fixed-line telecom network, according to Vyyo.

Shanghai Datang Mobile Communications Equipment Co. Ltd. installed the Vyyo system. Hohhot is the capital of Inner Mongolia and Xining is the capital of Qingha province. Both cities are located in areas with lower population density where, according to Vyyo, wireless offers a faster and lower-cost way to meet telecommunications demands.

“After fully evaluating Vyyo’s dual-bus chassis, China Railcom chose to deploy our solution in these two lower density areas and bring both circuit voice and data capability to voice cafes and other enterprise applications,” stated Michael Corwin, president and chief operating officer of Vyyo. “This is our third announcement with Datang Mobile and first with China Railcom. We look forward to continuing our work with these companies when the Chinese State Radio Regulation Commission awards licenses for additional cities.”
