CANNES, France-Spatial Wireless announced it will commence a market trial of Spatial Atrium, its new high-capacity distributed mobile switching platform, on India’s Hutchison Essar Telecom Ltd.’s GSM network.
“We look forward to evaluating the benefits of distributed mobile switching, which we believe are fundamental for delivering lower cap ex and op ex, the necessary quality of service and attractive price points that meet our customer demands,” said Naresh Gupta, chief technology officer of Hutchison.
Spatial Atrium is a distributed mobile switch that supports both GSM and UMTS, unveiled at 3GSM World Congress. According to the company, the enhanced solution is ideal for carriers upgrading existing GSM infrastructure or deploying greenfield UMTS cell sites.
