LONDON-European mobile-phone maker Sendo said it will sell its new M551 handset in the United States starting in April. The company said it could not yet confirm a U.S. carrier distributor for the phone.
Upstart Sendo has been working to break into the growing worldwide mobile-phone business with a line of sleek, mostly low-end phones. The company sells a variety of devices in Europe and elsewhere, but it has mostly stayed out of the U.S. market. However, the company’s S251 was previously available in the United States, although the company did not say whether it was sold through a carrier.
Sendo’s M551 is a clamshell GSM phone with support for WAP.
