ATLANTA-FOX Sports Interactive Media said it expanded its publishing partnership with Sorrent into other areas besides games. Under the deal, Sorrent will create and publish all new FOX Sports Mobile multimedia sports content and FOX Sports Mobile Fantasy, a standalone wireless fantasy sports offering. The two companies first teamed up in 2002 to offer wireless games.
Games should be available later this year.
FOX Sports Mobile will serve as a mobile storefront for FOX wireless offerings, including games, fantasy sports, ring tones, wallpapers and more, said the company.
FOX also announced a deal with Cingular Wireless L.L.C. where the two companies again will team to offer Virtual Crew Chief to NASCAR fans. Cingular customers can vote via text messaging on race-related questions during 17 NASCAR races broadcast on FOX. Voters will be entered into a sweepstakes drawing where the winner will receive a trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., to hang out with the FOX Sports crew and attend driving school at the Richard Petty Driving Experience.
Cingular said it has seen 17-fold growth in participation by race fans during its last two years offering Virtual Crew Chief.
