Liberty Alliance expands relationships

SAN FRANCISCO-The Liberty Alliance, a consortium working on an open federated identity standard, said it formed new relationships with six global alliances including the Network Applications Consortium, Open Mobile Alliance, Open Security Exchange, PayCircle, SIMalliance and WLAN Smart Card Consortium.

PayCircle is working with Liberty to combine federated identity and mobile payment expertise. “The collaboration and cooperation of Liberty Alliance and PayCircle will help guide developers into the Mobile Web Service future,” said Hans Wolf, president of PayCircle. “As part of our relationship, PayCircle will provide an integrated Payment Reference implementation using the Liberty Alliance state of the art identity management technology.”

The WLAN Smart Card consortium focuses on secure mobile management, and the SIMalliance is addressing the SIM card’s role in next-generation of mobile services.

In other Liberty news, Nokia, AOL and TrustGenix were scheduled to showcase a new service that uses Liberty’s new Identity Web Service Framework. The service allows content from Radio@AOL to be delivered to any device.
