SBA Communications names new CFO

BOCA RATON, Fla.-SBA Communications Corp. announced it has hired a new chief financial officer. In addition to heading up financial aspects of SBA, Anthony Macaione, 40, will also serve as senior vice president.

Macaione, a certified public accountant, joins from Perry Ellis International Inc., where he served as senior vice president, corporate controller and chief accounting officer. Prior to that he served as vice president of finance for a division of the Liz Claiborne Co.

“He brings a high level of energy, enthusiasm and growth-company finance and accounting experience to SBA,” said Jeffrey Stoops, president and chief executive officer of SBA. “With Tony, our senior management team is now complete, and we look forward to building upon our successes of the last year.”

In other tower sector news, Crown Castle International Corp. said the quarterly dividend on its 6.25-percent convertible preferred stock will be paid May 17 to stock holders as of May 1. The dividend will be paid in shares of common stock in a rate to be announced by May 1.

Tower stocks were performing well early in the week. Shares of SBA were trading at $4.41; Crown shares were at $15; American Tower Corp. was trading at $13 per share; and SpectraSite Inc., which releases its first quarter earnings on Thursday, was trading at $40.50 per share.
