Fastchat service to launch in India

CHICAGO-Mobile instant communications provider Fastmobile Inc. reported an agreement with Indian wireless carrier Hutchison Essar to market Fastmobile’s Fastchat multimodal messaging and content delivery service in India. Fastmobile said the service would launch across India this quarter on a range of handsets, including Nokia Corp.’s 6600 and through a yet-to-be-announced embedded handset partner.

“We have always believed in international partnerships that help deliver a superior user experience,” said Harit Nagpal, vice president of corporate marketing for Hutch. “Our decision to partner with Fastmobile is based on the uniqueness of the solution and the anticipated customer appeal for the service.”

The Fastchat service was originally launched last year and is currently available for handsets using the Symbian operating platform.
