CLEVELAND-Further expanding its wireless push, American Greetings Corp. said it acquired ring-tone vendor MIDIRingTones. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We’re thrilled to welcome MIDIRingTones aboard as this acquisition further demonstrates our expanding leadership position in wireless content and new applications,” said Josef Mandelbaum, president and chief executive officer of AG Interactive, the wireless division of greeting card company American Greetings.
American Greetings earlier this year launched its wireless division to create branded mobile information and entertainment content for consumers. The company said the MIDIRingTones acquisition improves its application offerings and back-end infrastructure.
In other content news, Chilmark Entertainment Group announced it will raise $1 million in a private stock sale to fund its expansion into the Chinese wireless content market. The company said it will sell games, ring tones and music to Chinese wireless users. Chilmark Entertainment Group oversees a variety of businesses, including Internet service providers and digital music vendors.
