REDMOND, Wash.-Action Engine Corp., which provides the Advanced Data Services (ADS) platform to wireless operators, announced support for Microsoft’s MapPoint Location Server (MLS).
Integrating MLS with the ADS platform will enable real-time personal location services, including the ability for mobile subscribers to determine the location of other mobile subscribers, Action Engine said.
“With MapPoint Location Server support, subscribers will have an easy and intuitive way to locate friends, family or even co-workers using a mobile device,” explained Michael Graff, general manger of Microsoft’s MapPoint business unit. “An individual’s location is automatically detected by their phone, eliminating the hassle of having to enter it in separately, and then others can be located who have opted into the service and allowed their location to be shared.”
