Report: Users want wireless headsets, PTT

BOSTON-A new report by Strategy Analytics found high interest among cell-phone users in cordless headsets and push-to-talk connectivity.

The report, “US Cellular Device Market Dynamics: End User Interest,” found 54 percent of respondents want cordless headsets and half want PTT connectivity. In addition, more than one-third want better personal information management capabilities.

“Users are interested in true wireless connectivity, and they want it effortlessly,” said Eddie Tapiero, wireless device strategies analyst at Strategy Analytics. “They want to connect with friends, family and colleagues using both wireless headsets and PTT. In addition, users would like the ability to synchronize calendars and scheduling applications and to connect to work resources without the need of base stations or wire lines.”

The report also found interest among cell-phone users in removable storage on mobile devices.

“There is a strong positive correlation between the imaging segment, the nascent music and media segment, and the desire for removable memory,” said Chris Ambrosio, director of the wireless devices strategies service at Strategy Analytics.
