LOS ANGELES-Texas Instruments Inc. said it signed a deal to provide a chip for Samsung Electronic Co. Ltd.’s mobile-phone cameras.
The chip will allow Samsung’s mobile phones to feature multimedia services such as still photography and video-on-demand.
Neither company disclosed the terms of the order.
Both companies have been working together since last year, according to TI.
“We have looked at expanding our business with them, but we have worked with a number of other leading mobile handset manufacturers as well,” TI spokeswoman Gail Chandler was quoted as saying.
The chipmaker also tightened its second-quarter forecast, saying it will meet the high end of its projections. It said it anticipates total revenue of between $3.17 billion and $3.29 billion as against previous estimates of between $3.09 billion and $3.33 billion.
The figures still represent an upbeat market outlook, a general industry trend.
Texas Instruments said it expects sales to range between $2.73 billion to $2.83 billion.
