CEDAR KNOLLS, N.J.-Broadband wireless access equipment vendors have a head start on standards bodies in developing products ready for market, according to a new report from Probe Group.
“Equipment vendors are now offering wireless broadband technology that does not require line of sight,” said Alan Mosher, the group’s research director. “The vendors are using OFDM and CDMA technologies to give end users plug-and-play connectivity using a desktop or PCMCIA card antenna. The technology solves the problem network operators had with truck rolls and, at the same time, gives users device portability if not full mobility.”
