CHASKA, Minn.-Tropos Networks announced chaska.net, a wireless Internet service provider owned and operated by the City of Chaska, Minn., has launched a metro-scale Wi-Fi network covering the community’s 16-square-mile footprint.
Service is now being offered for $16 per month with unlimited mobility throughout the city. Chaska.net said it has already signed 1,500 subscriptions out of the 7,500 homes that it marketed the service to beginning four weeks ago.
The Tropos network is made up of rugged outdoor 802.11 Wi-Fi cells that form a mesh network to offer data rates of 1 to 3 megabits per second.
