NEW YORK-AT&T Wireless Services Inc. led the list of consumer complaints made through Consumers Union’s Escape Cell Hell Web site during the second quarter, with 41 complaints just beating out soon-to-be acquirer Cingular Wireless L.L.C.’s 32 complaints, though both carriers combined managed to account for more than half of the 132 total complaints filed though the Web site.
Consumers Union noted many of the complaints were about billing and network quality issues, though second-quarter complaints totaled nearly half of the complaints logged during the first quarter of this year in which carriers struggled with issues surrounding wireless local number portability.
Sprint PCS and T-Mobile USA Inc. both accounted for 18 complaints during the quarter followed by 15 complaints logged against Verizon Wireless and seven complaints against Nextel Communications Inc.
