Utilities were the most popular category for Palm users at PalmGear.com, with twice as many downloads as other categories, said the company. Games, business and finance, and wireless/networking/communications followed. The top 10 applications for PalmGear.com during the second quarter were DateBk5 by Pimlico Software Inc.; Pocket Tunes Deluxe by NormSoft Inc.; ZLauncher by ZZTECHS; SilverScreen by PocketSensei; BackupMan by Bits ‘n Bolts Software; BackupBuddy for Windows by Blue Nomad L.L.C.; PowerRUN by YAMADA Tatsushi; Diet & Exercise Assistant by Keyoe Inc.; Pocket Tunes by NormSoft; and BackupBuddy VFS by Blue Nomad.

For PocketGear.com, which provides software for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs, enhancements were the most popular category, followed by business, utilities, multimedia and time management. The top 10 applications during the second quarter were Spb Pocket Plus by Spb Software House; DVD to Pocket PC by Makayama Software; Spb Time by Spb; Agenda Fusion for Pocket PC by Developer One Inc.; Pocket informant by Web Information Solutions Inc.; Battery Pack Pro by Omega One; Spb Full Screen Keyboard by Spb; Pocket Mechanic by Anton Tomov; Resco Explorer 2003 for Pocket PC by Resco; and Agenda Fusion 6 Upgrade Pack by Developer One.

At Smartphone.net, utility application were the most popular, followed by entertainment, business and games. The top 10 applications were SmartphoneNotes by Syncdata; Links Smartphone Edition by JAMDAT Mobile Inc.; Photo Contacts by Pocketx Software Inc.; 171 Ringtones & Notifications by Vision Software; xBar2 by Xetra; Fizz Traveler by Fizz Software Ltd.; Star Trek Communicator by Versaly Entertainment; Sunnysoft MailCenter by Sunnysoft; and PocketGrandmaster for Smartphone by Clevergames.
