BOISE, Idaho-Extended Systems launched a new security offering created to address the growing problem of securing sensitive data on wireless devices.
OneBridge Mobile Secure provides “on device” encryption capabilities, allowing employers to install corporate security policies to personal digital assistants, smart phones, laptops and tablet PCs. With the latest component of the company’s Mobile Solution Platform, IT personnel can track mobile devices connecting to corporate servers and control network access based on the device or its user.
Additionally, devices can be “locked down” in the event that corporate procedures aren’t followed, and data can be remotely destroyed if the device is lost or stolen.
“There’s such confidential information being placed onto these devices…that our customers really wanted more security on them,” said Tim Pettit, senior product manager at Extended Systems. “They wanted the ability to recover or destroy that information … What we’ve done is to add a security product.”
