Mobile-game publisher In-Fusio raised $27 million in its latest round of financing. U.S.-based venture-capital firm Insight Venture Partners led the funding round, joining existing investors Banexi Ventures, Partech International, BPSA and Innoven Partenaires. The 6-year-old gaming firm will use the capital to build on its leading market share in Europe and expand operations in the United States. “Beyond building our U.S. presence, these funds will be used globally to reinforce our service, technology and know-how in the unique field of player community management,” said Giles Corbett, co-chief executive officer.
Java technology platform provider Aplix Corp. has acquired iaSolution Inc., a provider of Java-embedded solutions in China and Taiwan. Upon closing of the transaction, iaSolution will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Aplix, and Wesley Kuo, president of iaSolution, will join Aplix as president and chief strategy officer. “The integration is an excellent fit for both companies, allowing us to combine our R&D efforts and generate innovation at an accelerated pace. This collaboration additionally provides increased international coverage from Japan, Europe and the U.S. to China, Taiwan and Korea, allowing both companies to better serve our customers,” said Ryu Koriyama, chairman and chief executive officer of Aplix. The combined company will have dozens of licensed customers worldwide and offices located in Japan, Germany, the United States, China, Taiwan and Singapore.
ClearSky Mobile Media Inc. has brought the race for the Oval Office to wireless handsets. The mobile entertainment company has launched politically themed content, including ring tones that feature the voices of President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry. The offerings are available through Clear Channel station Web sites as well as ClearSky’s site. “Showing support for your candidate has taken an entirely new twist this election year thanks to the capabilities of new mobile phones,” said ClearSky Chief Executive Officer Dean Fresonke.
