NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Cingular Wireless L.L.C. said it has activated 13 new cell sites in Central Tennessee this year as part of a one-year, $100 million network investment in Tennessee and Kentucky that eventually should add nearly 150 cell sites to the region for improved call quality, capacity and coverage. The activated cell sites cover the Nashville/Murfreesboro area, Cookeville, Sprint Hill/Thompson Station and Clarksville.
Cingular also said it has activated seven new cell sites in southern Indiana and West Kentucky this year, enhancing service in Evansville, Owensboro, Bowling Green and other communities in the area.
In an unrelated announcement, the carrier said it plans to expand its Brentwood Telesales Center in Nashville with the addition of 140 new jobs before Nov. 1 to assist with increased call volumes during the third and fourth quarters and help prepare Cingular for the potential increase in call volume related to its pending acquisition of AT&T Wireless Services Inc.
“This hiring effort is an important step in ensuring that we can continue to serve our rapidly growing subscriber base quickly and efficiently,” said Marty Lovgren, senior human resources manager for Cingular in Tennessee.
