MUNICH, Germany-India’s largest GSM mobile carrier, Bharti Tele-Ventures, has entered a deal to allow Siemens AG to upgrade its network with EDGE capability, making it the vendor’s third order in Asia. No dollar amount was announced.
Siemens said it will deliver and install all the required equipment by September. The network will cover customers needs in the Kolkata circle.
“EDGE is the new mantra in the global connectivity scene and will allow us to offer high-speed data services, which are approximately three times those of GPRS,” said Manoj Kohli, president of mobility at Bharti Tele-Ventures.
