SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc. said it has entered a multi-year global marketing agreement with Wimbledon champion, 17 year-old Maria Sharapova.
The deal will also include event and Web appearances.
“Our interest in Maria Sharapova wasn’t about having an athlete endorsing our product,” said Geoffrey Frost, senior vice president and chief brand officer at Motorola Inc. “We believe Maria connects with a new breed of consumers seeking global connectivity through stylishly engineered products that fit their lifestyles.”
The dollar amount was not disclosed.
After winning Wimbledon, Sharapova tried to call her mother on her wireless phone, but could not get reception.
