Kyocera Wireless Corp. reported an alliance with push-to-talk platform provider Kodiak Networks to jointly market Kyocera handsets supporting Kodiak’s Real-time Exchange platform to CDMA carriers worldwide.
The companies have already launched a pair of Kyocera handsets using the Kodiak platform, including the 3250 that Alltel Corp. used to launch its Kodiak-based PTT service earlier this year, and more recently the SE44 Slider handset that Alltel has added to its line-up. Wisconsin-based wireless operator Cellcom has also launched the Kodiak-based PTT service using both Kyocera handsets.
Both companies noted that additional Kyocera handsets supporting the Kodiak platform will be introduced in the next several months, and they are working with other wireless carriers around the world.
“We’ve experienced great success with the two Kodiak-enabled handsets we’ve launched to date and look forward to bringing new models to market in the coming months,” said Don McGuire, vice president of global marketing and North American sales for Kyocera.
