SAN FRANCISCO-The MultiBand OFDM Alliance said it will announce a Special Interest Group and discuss the roadmap for the group’s specification for ultra-wideband technology at the Intel Developers Forum next week.
The promoters of the MBOA-SIG include Alereon, Hewlett Packard Co., Intel Corp., Nokia Corp., Philips Electronics, Samsung Electronics, Staccato Communications, Sony, Texas Instruments Inc. and Wasir.
The MBOA group is at odds with a single-band group led by Motorola Inc.
“We have established relations with the Wireless USB Promoters Group and the WiMedia Alliance to provide the PHY and MAC layers to them, and we expect more to follow,” said Stephen Wood, UWB strategist at Intel and MBOA co-founder.
