Verizon Wireless expands account information service

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-Verizon Wireless customers can now access their account balances from their handsets by dialing #BAL where they will hear details of their last five payment transactions, including the dates payments were received and the total balance paid. Users can also receive text messages with current balance information and last payment details. Customers are also provided with the option of following voice prompts to hear additional payment details or make payments from their phones.

“The #BAL service gives Verizon Wireless customers instant access to important account information and payment options that they can access whenever it is convenient for them,” noted Pat Decker, vice president of customer services for Verizon Wireless.

The carrier initially launched the #BAL service in Oregon and Washington last month as well as a #MIN option that provided customers with estimates of peak and off-peak local airtime minutes used since their last bills.
