Alltel to lease tower space to other carriers

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-Alltel announced it will lease space on more than 1,000 of its wireless communications towers, located nationwide, to other wireless carriers.

Marketing efforts to lease space on the towers will be led by Faulk & Foster Real Estate of Monroe, La., and KGI Wireless of Austin, Texas. Faulk & Foster will market tower space and process sublease applications in Alltel’s midwestern and northern markets, and KGI will do the same in the company’s southeast and southwest markets.

“Alltel will offer wireless carriers prime collocation opportunities in major markets,” said Jim McDonald, Alltel’s vice president of network services. “There is a significant increase nationwide in collocation activity, and our work with Faulk & Foster and KGI will provide both capital savings and an important time-to-market advantage.”
