AWS wins deal with MercuryMD

REDMOND, Wash.—AT&T Wireless Services Inc. reported a deal with MercuryMD Inc. to provide medical professionals with wireless access to patient information on personal digital assistants and PocketPC devices using the carrier’s GSM/GPRS network.

The solution includes the palmOne Treo 600 and Audiovox PPC 4100 devices embedded with MercuryMD’s Mdata SyncEverywhere technology that integrates a hospital’s existing information system and securely delivers its to a wireless handheld device wherever a cellular signal can be received.

“In listening to our customers and their expressed need for access to clinical data from outside the hospital walls, we are pleased to work with AT&T Wireless to provide clinicians such access,” said Alan Ying, chief executive officer of MercuryMD.

AWS added the service was available for sale through its enterprise sales organization.
