Motorola invests in Bluefire

BALTIMORE-Motorola Inc. has made a strategic investment in Bluefire Security Technologies, the company announced. Financial details were not disclosed.

Bluefire plans to use proceeds from the funding to accelerate the development of its Mobile Firewall Plus suite of security applications. The suite provides protection for mobile devices that are connected to a user’s home, office or the Internet via authentication, encryption and an integrated mobile VPN and firewall.

“We believe that Bluefire’s comprehensive security for small devices could assist with our ongoing efforts to provide security on mobile, connected devices, without compromising computing power,” said Warren Holtsberg, corporate vice president of Motorola Ventures.
