NEW YORK-Playboy Enterprises Inc. will offer content to mobile consumers in Spain and Portugal, the company announced Monday.
Playboy now offers wireless content in 15 countries around the world, including Germany, Hong Kong, Australia and Brazil. It plans to announce a distribution deal in the United States by year-end.
Wireless users will be able to download Playboy wallpaper, multimedia message service content and games, in addition to accessing photos and video clips from the company’s archives. 1633SA, a French men’s magazine publisher and longtime Playboy partner, will offer the content through wireless networks.
“The reaction to Playboy’s wireless offering in France has been tremendous, and as a result, the product is distributed via all major carriers in the country,” said Michel Birnbaum, 1633SA’s chief executive officer. “Based on the growing popularity of this product, we think now is a perfect time to expand this offering to wireless users in additional countries.”
