SANTA MONICA, Calif.-Wireless local area network aggregator Boingo Wireless Inc. reported a roaming partnership with Paris-based Meteor Networks that will add more than 400 Wi-Fi hot spots throughout part of France to Boingo’s roaming network. Boingo said its network currently includes 11,000 Wi-Fi hot spots worldwide including 5,600 locations in Europe.
Meteor’s network covers hotels, cafes, bus stations, stores and public locations in the Paris metropolitan area, and the company has signed agreements with the Paris mass transit agency, McDonald’s restaurants and Best Western hotels. Meteor added that it plans to have 750 hot spots installed by the end of the year.
Boingo announced a similar roaming agreement late last month with French-based ADP Telecom that included hot-spot coverage at Orly and Roissy Charles de Gaulle airports in Paris, as well as airports in Lyon, Lille, Clermont-Ferrand, Toulon-Hyeres and Nice.<p
