TOKYO-Japanese mobile carrier NTT DoCoMo Inc. announced it has agreed to acquire 100 percent of inter-touch (BVI) Ltd. for $70 million.
Inter-touch is a Singapore-based holding company of Internet providers that supply high-speed broadband connections and applications for business travelers at hotels across Asia-Pacific and Europe.
DoCoMo said the acquisition will enable it to offer more options for Internet connection to its customers while they are travelling abroad, because the inter-touch group companies offer wired and wireless local area network broadband services at 155 hotels in 28 countries worldwide.
Inter-touch has capital in the amount of US$15.6 million. The company was established in 1998 and employs about 120 people.
