VICTORIA, British Columbia-VCom Inc. and ARRIS said the Rural Utility Service has approved their jointly developed 700 MHz broadband wireless system for purchase as part of the RUS Broadband Loan Program.
The DOCSIS 2.0-based system includes ARRIS’ wireless enhanced Cadant C3 Cable Modem Termination System and WM450 modems and VCom’s 700 MHz Broadband Wireless Internet Network technology.
“We are the first organizations to meet the RUS Buy American provision and receive acceptance as broadband wireless equipment providers under the RUS Wireless Networks classification,” said Richard Blenkinsop, VCom’s systems vice president. “Our BWIN solution excels when catering specifically to residents and businesses in rural areas where the Broadband Loan Program is key to implementing this technology.”<
