Java company raises $20M in new funding

ZURICH, Switzerland-Java company Esmertec announced it scored $20.2 million in new funding through the sale of a convertible note, money the company said would be used to expand its business in Asia.

“We received strong interest from investors during the placement,” said Edwin Douglass, the company’s chief financial officer. “Proceeds from the convertible note will enable us to accelerate our current growth.”

Esmertec sells Java software to handset makers that run Java applications.
