SYDNEY, Australia-Lucent Technologies Inc. said it will supply a new Internet Protocol/Multiprotocol Label Switching system in conjunction with Juniper Networks Inc. to carry traffic for Vodafone Australia’s network. The system will carry Vodafone’s current- and third-generation traffic between Brisbane and Melbourne via Sydney.
The value of the agreement was not disclosed.
Lucent’s data networking core will be integrated with Vodafone’s 3G network. The system will enable Vodafone to consolidate its traffic onto a single IP/MPLS network to reduce capital costs and increase bandwidth, Lucent said.
