LONDON-In another legal triumph, a High Court has given Motorola Inc. the authority to seize assets belonging to Turkey’s Uzan family. The decision confirms an earlier ruling in a U.S. District Court last year, which described the Uzans’ action as a “massive fraud.”
The family owned the carrier, Telsim, which took loans from both Motorola and Nokia Corp. for wireless network equipment.
The Uzans have some properties in the United Kingdom, so the ruling allows Motorola to confiscate them.
Both the U.S. and London court decisions will encourage Motorola to sue the Uzans wherever they have assets around the world.
