Pulse-Link reports fastest UWB transmission

CARLSBAD, Calif.-Pulse-Link Inc. said it achieved ultra-wideband date rates of 667 megabits per second of throughput after forward correction.

The company said that speed is the highest ever transmitted and received for UWB and will enable wireless solutions for Digital Visual Interface, High Definition Multimedia Interface and Firewire cabled devices.

“Our actual over-the-air data rate is at present 1.3 gigabits per second, with the data throughput presently at 667 mbps,” said John Santhoff, founder and chief technology officer at the company. “Over the next 30 to 60 days, optimization will bring the throughput to gigabit data rates.”

The company said it plans to begin making gigabit wireless UBW evaluation kits available to partners early next year. In addition to its UWB technology, Pulse-Link is developing a forward-correction technology that it said is more efficient than the Viterbi forward-correction technology commonly used in wireless communications.
