The Open Mobile Terminal Platform group’s board of directors appointed Mats Nilsson as its new managing director effective Jan. 1. Nilsson is OMTP’s first full-time employee, and initially he will be based in Sweden. Nilsson most recently was vice president and head of standardization strategy for Ericsson Group. Nilsson was active with the PCS standardization process in North America and served as Ericsson’s chief architect and negotiator during the 3G standards process.

Airbee Wireless Inc., an intelligent software company, announced Mal Gurian will join its board of directors effective Jan. 1. Gurian has a long history in the wireless industry, starting with Radio Telephone Corp. in 1960 and then moving to OKI Electric Industries, where he helped launch early cellular telephones. More recently, he co-founded and served as chairman of Authentix Network. His accomplishments earned him a spot in RCR Wireless News’ Wireless Hall of Fame.

Jamdat Mobile Inc. said Los Angeles Clippers player Corey Maggette and Sacramento Kings player Peja Stojakovic have been chosen as cover athletes for its NBA-licensed mobile games. Maggette will be featured on the cover of “Jamdat Sports NBA 2005” and Stojakovic will appear on the cover of “Jamdat Sports Three-Point Shootout.”

Brown has been appointed chief financial officer of PalmOne Inc., where he will be responsible for finance and accounting, investor relations, corporate development and information technology. Most recently, Brown was CFO of Legato Systems Inc., a storage solutions provider. Prior to that he was vice president and CFO of Adaptec Inc.
