TEL AVIV, Israel-RAD Data Communications said its FOM-E1/T1 fiber-optic modem and ASMi-52 SHDSL modem have achieved interoperability approval from Nortel Networks Ltd. to provide backhaul connectivity with Nortel GSM/GPRS radio access equipment.
The FOM-E1/T1 fiber-optic modem converts E1/T1 electrical signals into optical signals. The signal is then transmitted over fiber-optic cable, which extends the E1/T1 service range up to 62 miles, said the company.
The ASMi-52 modem uses SHDSL technology to extend the range of digital interfaces. It allows data rates up to 2.3 megabits per second over two-wire and 4.6 Mbps over four-wire.
