TEL AVIV, Israel-Broadband solutions provider Alvarion Ltd. said it has developed a mobile WiMAX solution based on the 802.16e standard with plans for a demonstration system within a year.
The company said it is targeting the 2006 launch to coincide with the availability of WiMAX-enabled devices.
In addition, Alvarion announced it has established a dedicated business unit to focus on defining the company’s strategic direction and position in the WiMAX market. Zvika Harnik, formerly Alvarion’s executive vice president and head of research and development, has been tapped to lead the new unit as its president.
