INgrooves creates mobile music label

SAN FRANCISCO-Yet another mobile music label was launched Tuesday as digital record company INgrooves announced its effort to create music exclusively for wireless devices.

INgrooves Mobile Music will produce custom ringtones and other content, distributing the tunes through mobile storefronts such as 9 Squared, Dwango Wireless and Hudson Entertainment. The label has already signed artists including The Crystal Method, Thievery Corp., Felix da Housecat and Grandaddy.

“We want to give creators and owners of music as much flexibility as possible when it comes to digital distribution,” said Robb McDaniels, INgrooves’ chief executive officer. “INgrooves has leveled the playing field with the majors when it comes to Internet and digital distribution of music, and I think we are well positioned to effectively serve the artist community.”
