Cingular wins wireless deal with Fla. nursing association

ATLANTA-Cingular Wireless L.L.C. reported a deal with the Visiting Nurse Association of Florida Inc. to improve VNA’s wireless capabilities in providing care for homebound patients.

The agreement provided VNA’s Florida clinical staff with 275 Audiovox Corp.’s 4100 Pocket PC mobile devices loaded with Homecare Homebase software and using Cingular’s network to remotely access patient visit schedules, update patient clinical records and billing information, and receive patient care directives from physicians.

“Our patient files have gone from being 6 inches thick to having just a few pieces of paper in them,” said Donald Crow, chief executive officer at VNA of Florida. “If you can cut down on the amount of paperwork that’s required, it makes everything easier, cleaner and more efficient.”
